Als 69-jarige hardloper leef ik supergezond waardoor mijn prestaties op beginnen te vallen. Ik heb nooit gerookt en drink sinds een jaar of 12 geen alcohol meer (daarvoor af en toe een klein beetje). Door heel gezond te eten en drie keer in de week gedoseerd, volgens het schema van onze trainers, te trainen bij mijn hardloopclub Noordwijkerhoutse StrandLopers (NSL) in het duin, bos en op het strand, loop ik nu nog sneller dan een jaar of drie, vier geleden en win ik wedstrijden in mijn leeftijdscategorie (zoals bijvoorbeeld afgelopen seizoen het Zorg en Zekerheidcircuit (8 regionale wedstrijden 10 km in en om Leiden, snelste tijd dit seizoen 43 min 18). Ik doe ook mee aan NK's masters atletiek van de Atletiekunie.
