If your campaign isn't getting the applications you expected, here are the most effective fixes:
Send direct invites
Don't wait for athletes to find your campaign. Use OpenSponsorship's search to find athletes within your budget and niche, then hit Invite on their profile. Athletes who receive a personal invite convert at a much higher rate than those who stumble across your listing. How do I send an invite?
Check your compensation
Product-only deals attract fewer applicants than cash deals, and low-value product offers attract fewer still. If your campaign is stalling, consider adding a cash component or increasing the product value. Athletes can see the offer value upfront — it's the first filter they apply.
Make your campaign description specific
Vague campaigns ("promote our brand on social media") underperform. Specific ones convert. Name the deliverable, the timeline, and what you're looking for in an athlete. The more an athlete can picture themselves in the deal, the more likely they are to apply.
Widen your search criteria
If you've been targeting a narrow sport or location, consider opening it up. Some of the best campaign results come from unexpected athlete fits — a yoga instructor promoting a supplement brand, or a surfer promoting a mobile app.
Review your campaign image
First impressions matter. A clear, high-quality campaign cover image significantly increases click-through from athletes browsing campaigns. What are best practices for the cover image on my campaign?
